We went out for an epic adventure this morning. Again I was harsh and insisted that there would be no playing of a certain video game until we had been out for a walk in the woods and had lunch. Fortunately this news was greeted favourably πŸ™‚
There had been substantial rainfall throughout the night, so I made sure we were kitted out in old clothes and boots (unfortunately Paige’s Wellies proved too small – she’s outgrown them too quickly – but luckily we had some boots that would just about do the job).
Off we went to investigate a footpath that we walk past (near home) on our school journeys. This footpath has been having a layer of gravel out down, and the mini digger that’s been doing the work has been the cause of much excitement when we’ve walked past. So we explored the footpath, it turns out the gravel only goes halfway up the hill before it becomes a quagmire.
This didn’t phase us, because of course we were sensibly kitted out for mud πŸ™‚ the kids absolutely loved making their way through the mud, and I was there to hold hands when it all got a bit slippery πŸ˜€
We had a good look around a small copse and both Paige and Aiden enjoyed the run around, we also found a piece of cut log, which I’ve brought home as it looks like I may be able to polish it up and make it look cool, Paige was particularly excited by this and insisted in taking personal care of the transportation for the wood πŸ™‚
Well upon returning (very muddy) home we had lunch and then I allowed then to play Skylanders πŸ™‚ However only for a couple of hours. At which point I noticed a truly epic film was being shown. So I introduced them both to the awesomeness of Flash Gordon.
They both loved it, and in particular the Hawkmen attack, as Aiden then spent a little while constantly shouting “Diiiiiiive!” Hehehe I was very happy with this πŸ™‚
That’s been about it for today, it’s seemed a jam packed and fun day. In fact when she went to bed Paige said “Thanks Daddy, today has been amazing!” I can’t ask for a better review than that, although some of that is also likely down to the chilli that I cooked for us both, which she hoovered up, and probably the 10 minutes we spent watching the thunder, lighting and hail storm through the window πŸ˜€

All in all a day of simple pleasures.
